The Amazing
George Frideric Handel
Handel
was born in Halle in 1685 and died in London in 1759. He was a German
composer and organist.
Handel’s
career became focused after his father’s death. His first
Opera, Almira, was produced in 1705. During the next few years,
Handel became familiar with and mastered Italian style in opera.
He also met many influential people including Alessandro Scarlatti
and Corelli.
Handel
made a very smart career move after recovering from a stroke in
1737. He began writing oratorios, the most famous of which is his
Messiah.
An
Amazing Handel Fact
Handel
continued to conduct and revise his scores for the last seven years
of his life. That’s pretty remarkable, considering he had
lost his eyesight during that time. Thankfully, his friend, J.S.
Schmidt, assisted him when necessary.
