Haydn
Piano Music
is the Right Stuff
Haydn Sonata Hob XVI: 22
(Second Movement)
Haydn
piano music is not only beautiful, but also the correct answer.
This middle andante movement is written in E
minor, the tonic minor key of the first and third movements
of this sonata. Gentle triplet sixteenth notes keep this section
flowing nicely in simple 3/8 time.
Decoys
The
andante of Beethoven’s Op. 14, No. 2 is in cut time (2/2)
and has an even staccato theme. Mozart’s 1775 Rondeau en Polonaise,
from his KV 280 piano sonata, is written in the dominant key of
A major, and incorporates alternating loud and soft dynamic markings
fairly frequently in order to establish mood and character.
