Impressive Isaac Albéniz
This
Spanish gentleman was born in Camprodón, Catalonia in 1860
and died in Cambo-les-Bains, France in 1909. His most famous teacher
was Liszt. Other teachers included d’Indy and Dukas.
Albéniz
was certainly not shy in performing his own piano
works, and he most certainly had the technique to do so. He
did quite a bit of touring from around the year 1880. He also wrote
about two hundred and fifty works during the period of 1880 and
1892.
One
of the composer’s crowning glories was his piano suite entitled
Iberia, which he began writing in 1906 and which was published in
four volumes.
An
Amazing Albéniz
Fact
Composing
for piano did not stop Albéniz from writing songs, orchestral
works and even operettas. His piano work Iberia was eventually
orchestrated by Arbós.
