Piano
Method Books
If you've approached this page, then you're an
honest and sincere person. You're admitting that you could use some
improvement in honing your piano skills. Or perhaps you're a dishonest
person with a lot of piano
skills who's just browsing through our different web pages. At any
rate, you're here and that's what counts. It's a pleasure to be
in your company.
Below you
will find some books that can help you improve your keyboard skill
level. I have categorized these books so that you have an idea of
their level of difficulty. In many instances, you can actually click
on a link to see a music page of the book, which helps to determine
the difficulty of the material within the book.
The
Thompson Course
This
teaching has been around for a very long time and still sells well.
The music is attractively laid out, and the progress between grades
is gradual and consistent. Fingerings, advice and a good selection
of pieces are all part of the package.
If
you have no previous keyboard skills, try book one. If you already
know a bit about notes and timing, then book two will do. Once you
hit books three, four and five, the music and hand positions tend
to become more challenging.
