The Viola Size was
Always a Challenge
The
viola size has always been tricky, construction-wise. Early models
of this instrument were so large that the instrument was highly
uncomfortable when assuming a playing stance. One of the people

tuning of this instruments four strings are as such: c, g, d’
and a’ (The apostrophe refers to the d and a just above middle
C). One famous composer who was an amazing viola player was Paul

I hear you say that you were not happy merely composing for a four
stringed viola? You want more strings? Okay then, try the Viola
d’Amore. It has fourteen strings, seven of which are played
